In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Reward,” and to the Photography 101 prompt “Bliss.”
This is also my second post for the Five Days Challenge. I was invited by Amy, from Snapshots, Snippets and Scribbles, to participate in the Five Days Challenge, asked to post five photos, one per day for five days, and to write a story to go with each photo. For each day that we post we are supposed to invite one person to participate.
Today I’m inviting Robin, from Robin’s Real Life. To participate, post a photo every day for five days and write a story to go along with each photo. Your story can be fiction or non-fiction. It can be a short paragraph, a page, or a poem. Each day, please select one person to carry on the challenge. The challenge is not mandatory and can be refused. Hope you accept and have some fun with this!
Seeing a scampering squirrel always makes me smile, inside and out. Lovely poem.

Thank you! The squirrels make me smile too, but they scare away the birds. Sometimes there are five of them running around all at once. I think I’ll have to spread apart the feeders a bit more when the ground thaws. I have more squirrel photos that I’ll eventually get around to posting. They really are funny little creatures 🙂

That shot of the squirrel hugging the feeder is hilarious. Great description of their acrobatics at the feeder.

Thank you so much! The squirrel hugging the feeder was just too funny. I think I’m going to change the caption to include the words, “Mine, mine, all mine!” 🙂

Add me to the list of people loving the squirrel hugging the feeder. SOOO cute!! Watching the antics of a squirrel at a bird feeder can provide entertainment for a long time 😀

Did you notice how well fed that feeder-hugging squirrel is? He ate well this winter! He’s very cute and so are his (at least) 4 friends. There is a lifetime of entertainment at the bird feeders in my backyard! 🙂

I miss our bird feeder. You’re right – I could watch the action there for ages!
I inherited a cat who goes outdoors though so it would be irresponsible to have a bird feeder right under the nose of a cat.

I filled the feeders for many years, let it go for several and started filling them again consistently now for the past three. Each day there’s a show of splendor outside my kitchen door. I love it! … Cat’s might not be the problem you think… I have always had outdoor cats and they haven’t been a problem so far. There are four indoor/outdoor cats living at my house at the moment and my neighbor across the driveway has three. Over the years I have seen my cats catch birds only a few times. If they do hunt it’s usually moles, mice or an occasional chipmunk, which I think are easier for them to catch… I did however see a hawk eyeing the feeder area and then swoop through last week. I think it got a bird, but it happened so fast it was hard to tell!

That’s good to know! … as long as he doesn’t think I got it for him as a new toy 😉

Great photos of the squirrels. My dogs would LOVE to chase them for you 🙂

Thank you! Those squirrels are savvy to dogs. They hightail it up the tree as soon as I put my dog out. She tries to chase them, but they won’t play!
