I have a hunch what this is, but I’m not too sure. Do any of you know?
My response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: “What’s This?” Thank you Cee for the challenge!

Currently blooming in my southern New York State Garden, the Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum) is a bulb that can be found in many parts of the world. Considered a weed by some, it’s got to be tenacious to survive the jumble in my wildly overgrown perennial garden!

I couldn’t resist posting a second response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Pets. 🙂
… and with this post, I’m premiering my first attempts using Lightroom…
While post-processing these three photos I was really impressed with the noise reduction capabilities of Lightroom. I’m still finishing up my photos, adding my watermark and applying unsharp mask, with GIMP, but hope to begin learning Photoshop soon. Although I have been happy with GIMP, I think it’s time to go mainstream.
There is definitely a learning curve that I’m struggling with. Just getting the settings right to import photos into Lightroom so that they would be organized and named properly has been a challenge.
If anyone has any invaluable Lightroom or Photoshop hints or other favorite post-processing apps/programs to recommend, please comment below!
It looks like this little dog has his owner trained to focus on the bubble quite well! 😉

“And remember, no matter where you go, there you are.”
This quote, which I believe can be attributed to Confucius, is the first of three which I’ll be posting in response to the Three Quotes Challenge. Gabriele, who authors Flights of Fancy, invited me to participate in this challenge. I’m very happy to finally be responding, if perhaps not exactly by “the rules.”
Gabriele, a fellow dog lover, was one of the very first people who I “met” when I began blogging on WordPress in September of 2014. She has regularly encouraged my photography and writing efforts with likes and comments. She even noticed when I hadn’t had the time to blog for several months and sent me a lovely “hope-you’re-O.K.” note during my absence. I was so touched that someone had missed me! Thank you Gabriele for that gesture! You probably don’t realize, but it meant a lot to me and I’m most grateful!
Please check out Gabriele’s conversational blog, Flights of Fancy, which features her science fiction and fantasy writing.
Thank you Gabriele for thinking of me for the Three Quotes Challenge! 🙂
This post is also my response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Freeways, Expressways, Highways. Thank you, Cee, for the challenge!

I took the photo above last fall at Goosepond Mountain State Park, Chester, NY. The road that you see, or what’s left of it, is Lazy Hill Road. At one time it connected Route 17m to Laroe Road, but it’s only been open to people on foot, bicycle, or horseback for many years. The shaded main trail is an easy hike spanning 2.6 miles one way, and 5.2 miles round trip; a lovely place to ramble for a few hours or to spend some energetic time out with the dog! 🙂
