Glowing, Grinning Halloween Treat

Spooky, shadowed, glowing bright
a treat to see you in the night
Flickering, glimmering, from within
              Fright Lights!
                    Such a sight

My pumpkin carving efforts for 2015! It’s always such a pleasure to make these, light them up, photograph, and enjoy.

It’s also a complete pleasure to be making a post here on this blog after leaving it untended for several months. I hadn’t planned the absence, but often time fills with the unexpected.  I find it can plummet forward at breakneck speed, leaving me  swirling in it’s wake,  fatigued and with intentions unacted upon.  At first days fly by. Then days speedily become weeks, and weeks, months.

In the interim of non-blogging I discovered that I really missed it. I also discovered that it keeps the introspective introvert in me happy and fuels the progress of my photographs, which is something I really wish to pursue.

… So barring any major tricks that life might play on me, I intend to treat myself to posting on a regular basis. Wish me luck keeping time managed!

Hope you had a happy Halloween! ~Terry

I took these photographs earlier today walking in my yard and down the road. A few flurries fell, but most of the snow has gone liquid and a few green sprouts have pushed up. The triumph of spring has begun!

This my response to the last prompt for Photography 101, “triumph.”

Chicken Incredulous

My neighbor’s wandering chickens always provide opportunities for photographs and were the inspiration for my poem today.  🙂

Chicken Incredulous

One foot lifts to   h  o  v  e  r
then is placed methodically down,
followed by the   o  t  h  e  r
methodically placed,
head thrusting forward and
like a slow piston,
in rhythm to her steps.

Her neck swivels
this way and that,
then abruptly her head pivots,
fixing my gaze.

Eye to red eye
with the visitor in my backyard,
accusingly she stares
and declares
the intruder.

This post is my response to the Photography 101 prompt, “Connect.” Perhaps I’ve taken liberties with the prompt; highlighting my close encounter connecting with a wide-eyed chicken a few days ago. 😉 … And yes, that’s snow and ice in the background. Spring has yet to connect with the state of New York!

It’s also my response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Farm Animals. Thank you Cee for the challenge!

… And… It’s my fifth and final post in the Five Days Challenge. I was invited by Amy, from Snapshots, Snippets And Scribbles to take part in the challenge, and for each of the five days I’m supposed to invite one person.

Because I didn’t invite anyone on day one, today I’m inviting two people; Meredith from PonderTheIrrelevant and Priscilla from scillagrace… If you would like to participate, post a photo every day for five days and write a story to go along with each photo. I’ve written a poem for today, but your stories can be fiction or non-fiction. They can be short paragraphs, multiple pages, or poems. Each day, please invite one person to carry on the challenge. The challenge is not mandatory and can be refused, but I hope you accept and have fun!

Writing 201: Journey … And Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge

“On the menu today: Journeys, limericks, and alliteration.”

Winter White Woods. Warwick, NY.

Limericks are simply silly. Here’s my effort with alliteration included 🙂 …

Wandering through the winter white wood,

contemplating each would and each could,

I happened to spy

a signpost. Oh my!

It became clear which way I should.

This post is also a response to Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge. Thank you Cee for the inspiration! 🙂
