Unconditional Reciprocity

Something very special happens within when we open up to the unconditional acceptance of another being. There is a reciprocity. By both giving and receiving, we nurture within ourselves love, gratitude, and a softening of the heart.

Bloom And Bud

Currently blooming in my southern New York State Garden, the Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum) is a bulb that can be found in many parts of the world. Considered a weed by some, it’s got to be tenacious to survive the jumble in my wildly overgrown perennial garden!

In response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Single Flower or Bud, and Jennifer Nichole Wells’s One Word Photo Challenge: Bulb. Thank you Cee and Jennifer for the challenges!

Buds

Buds burst open,
squeezed through twig, branch, and bark.
Straining toward a lush green future.
Seeking the light and warmth of spring.

I took this photo one morning last week in my backyard. The sun came out strong after a soaking mix of rain and sleet. Everything was shimmering with light. The conditions were perfect to satisfy Jennifer Nichole Wells’s One Word Photo Challenge: Bokeh, and the resulting photo works for The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Future, as well. Buds and new growth always speak to me of a promising future.

Thank you Jennifer N. and Jen H. for the challenges!

or…

“And remember, no matter where you go, there you are.”

This quote, which I believe can be attributed to Confucius, is the first of three which I’ll be posting in response to the Three Quotes ChallengeGabriele, who authors  Flights of Fancy, invited me to participate in this challenge. I’m very happy to finally be responding, if perhaps not exactly by “the rules.”

Gabriele, a fellow dog lover, was one of the very first people who I “met” when I began blogging on WordPress in September of 2014. She has regularly encouraged my photography and writing efforts with likes and comments. She even noticed when I hadn’t had the time to blog for several months and sent me a lovely “hope-you’re-O.K.” note during my absence. I was so touched that someone had missed me! Thank you Gabriele for that gesture! You probably don’t realize, but it meant a lot to me and I’m most grateful!

Please check out Gabriele’s conversational blog, Flights of Fancy, which features her science fiction and fantasy writing.

Thank you Gabriele for thinking of me for the Three Quotes Challenge!  🙂

This post is also my response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Freeways, Expressways, Highways. Thank you, Cee, for the challenge!

I took the photo above last fall at Goosepond Mountain State Park, Chester, NY. The road that you see, or what’s left of it, is Lazy Hill Road. At one time it connected Route 17m to Laroe Road, but it’s only been open to people on foot, bicycle, or horseback for many years. The shaded main trail is an easy hike spanning 2.6 miles one way, and 5.2 miles round trip;  a lovely place to ramble for a few hours or to spend some energetic time out with the dog!  🙂

This post is my response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Alleys, Driveways, Parking Lots, Dirt Roads, Jennifer Nichole Wells’s One Word Photo Challenge: Blanket, The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Landscape, and my belated response to The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Dance.
